The Economic Community of West African Heads of State and Government, have expressed serious concern over the humanitarian consequences of Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria and neighbouring countries and called for synergies between national, regional and international actions in the fight against the terrorist group.

Three soldiers and 123 Boko Haram militants were killed when the Islamist group attacked a Chadian army contingent in northern Cameroon, the Chadian military said Friday.

The government of Nigeria is buying Soviet-made tanks, amphibious vehicles and rocket launchers from Czech republic to combat the terrorist group, Boko Haram, according to a Thursday report by Czech daily, Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD).


There was this three way push-and-pull at the weekend involving Gover-nor Rotimi Amaechi, General Muhammadu Buhari and a certain Alhaji Adamu Muhammed  concerning the violent pseudo-Muslim sect leader Muhammadu Marwa alias Maitatsine and how the lessons of that old case could apply to the ongoing Boko Haram war.

Chadian soldiers have smoked out the Boko Haram insurgents out of Malumfatori town in north-eastern Nigeria, a top security source said.

More than 14,000 people fleeing Boko Haram violence in northeast Nigeria have streamed into Chad since the beginning of 2015, according to a United Nations report on Wednesday.

African states should act quickly and collectively to curb the growing threat posed by Nigeria's militant Islamists, the African Union chief has said.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said on Monday that it had so far registered 5,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following last Sunday’s insurgents’ attack on Monguno, in Borno state.

Court Marshalled soldiers


(SAHARA-REPORTER) The soldiers, from 213 battalion, 234 battalion, Army headquarters Team A and Task Force Mike, were deployed at the Adamawa axis of Operation Zamani Lafiya during a two-day attack by Islamist insurgents on Mubi town, Adamawa State on October 28 and 29. Military authorities felt that the soldiers, numbering about 2,000, had abandoned orders to fight. Our sources said the soldiers’ respective commanding officers had been instructed to dismiss them.

Gordon Brown, UN special envoy for education, on Thursday urged the world to condemn the use of young girls as suicide bombers by Islamist group Boko Haram, calling it “barbaric.”

“The whole world must unite to condemn Boko Haram’s new barbaric low with their evil use of young girls as suicide bombers to carry out their murderous attacks,” Brown said in a statement received by AFP.


Cameroon’s President Paul Biya announced Thursday that neighbouring Chad will send troops to aid his country’s army fight Boko Haram militants from Nigeria, a government spokesman said.



Kano, Nigeria (CNN)Nigerian soldiers thwarted a Boko Haram attack Wednesday in the town of Biu in the restive northeastern section of the country, the military said in a tweet.
The Nigerian Defense Headquarters said five terrorists and two anti-aircraft guns had been captured.
Officials gave no casualty tolls, but residents told CNN that at least 40 Boko Haram fighters were killed when they were surprised by Nigerian soldiers and fought a lengthy gun battle.
Scores of Boko Haram militants in 10 pickups and two motorcycles attempted to storm the town, 200 kilometers (about 124 miles) south of the Borno State capital, Maiduguri, around 7:30 a.m. local time. They were intercepted by soldiers from nearby military barracks, leading to two-hour gunfight, residents said.

The United Nations on Tuesday said that the latest wave of Boko Haram’s “vicious, ruthless attacks” in northeastern Nigeria had sent 11,320 people fleeing into Chad in a matter of days.

The Islamist group stormed the town of Baga on January 3, and subsequently razed it and at least 16 surrounding settlements.
