PDP nigeria

How the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP came to its present distress would surely confound the likes of Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, a former national chairman of the party. In 2008, Ogbulafor had bragged that the party would rule the country for 60 straight years. Besides being shoved from the pedestal of power, the party is today at the point of disintegration.

As the March 28 and April 11 general elections approaches, a peace meeting at the instance of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of zone 7 was held in Kaduna yesterday, where candidates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties signed a peace pact, agreeing to provide an enabling environment for peaceful polls.

Defence Minister Edgar Lungu of Zambia’s ruling Patriotic Front has won the country’s presidential election in a tightly fought race marred by delays, the electoral commission announced Saturday.

Lungu won with a slim 48.33 percent majority, closely followed by his rival Hakainde Hichilema of the United Party for National Development (UPND) with 46.67 percent of the vote.

The result of the Cambridge West African School certificate examination taken in 1961 by Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari has been released by his old school.


ABUJA—As controversy continues to trail the academic qualifications of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Major General Mohammadu Buhari, the Army, yesterday, said it was not in possession of Buhari’s credentials.

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has said that General Muhammadu Buhari  can apply to the examination body for the verification of his results. It said such verification can only be forwarded to the institution specified by the candidate.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insinuated that Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos and the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna state governorship candidate, Malam Nasir El-Rufai are campaigning for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the presidential election slated for 14 February.

A group of concerned youths in Bayelsa State under the auspices of Bayelsa Youth Vanguard has threatened to disrupt the re-election rally of President Goodluck Jonathan slated for 5 February in Yenagoa, the state capital, if the wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan attended.
The organisation therefore warned her not to accompany her husband for the presidential campaign. Bayelsa is the home state of President Jonathan.


The Buhari campaign for Nigeria’s presidency moved to Osogbo, capital of the state of Osun today, with the party treated to a rousing welcome by an extremely large crowd.

The hostility between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo worsened Monday as the former President sneaked out from his palatial building in Abeokuta, immediately Jonathan arrived the state capital.
