Fresh plot to arrest Danjuma Goje Uncovered

A plan to frame up the former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje over allegations of sponsoring terror attacks in the state has been uncovered.
The plot is allegedly being hatched by Goje’s predecessor, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership in the state, it was learnt.
Gombe has witnessed an orgy of violence in recent times. Governor Dankwambo has called for Goje’s arrest.


Dankwambo, who called on security operatives to act swiftly on the ex-governor, accused him of unleashing mayhem on him (Dankwambo) and on the citizens of the state.
The governor, represented by his chief of staff, Alhaji Ahmed Yayari Ahmed, made the plea recently at a joint press conference with the PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh.
Ahmed remarked that the governor had been attacked by thugs popularly called ‘yan kalare’ who were allegedly sponsored by Danjuma Goje on the day the governor visited Kasheri town.
He said the conference was aimed at telling the world the atrocities being perpetrated by the senator through the outlaw group, adding that the All Progressives Congress (APC) raised a false alarm about violence against the PDP state government in Gombe led by Dankwambo.
The APC national publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had accused the Gombe governor of working hard to obliterate APC’s presence in the state, in addition to victimizing the party’s members in the state.

Ahmed, however, refuted the allegation, describing it as “completely baseless and clear fabrication by the APC in an attempt to discredit and distract the hard working and humble Governor Dankwambo, overheat the polity and stall the wheel of progress in the state.”
The Dankwambo administration has insisted that since Goje left the PDP, he has been orchestrating violence and causing confusion, all in an attempt to undermine and dislodge the PDP-led administration in the state.
On Thursday, December 18, 2014, it was alleged that Goje mobilised a team of political thugs to ambush the governor’s convoy with dangerous weapons while the governor was on his way from a federal university located at Kashere where he had gone for a visit on the invitation of the vice chancellor.

The thugs, it was further learnt, unleashed terror on the governor’s entourage, injuring some persons and destroying some vehicles in the convoy.

A source close to Goje accused Dankwambo of ordering the police and the Army to break into Senator Goje’s family house, tear-gassing those they met, arresting his relations and ordering the removal of all APC billboards and posters in Kashere town.
